2011 Learning in Lent Series

Once again, the Fellowship of St. John the Divine of St. Mary's is pleased to present the 2011 Learning in Lent Series.  All talks will take place in the Church hall following the Friday Akathist services of Lent, which all begin at 7pm.

"What is Truth?" with David Vermette

David Vermette is the catechist at St. Mary Orthodox Church in Cambridge, MA. He is currently completing the graduate diploma in Applied Theology through the St. Stephen’s Program offered by the Antiochian Orthodox Christian Archdiocese of North America. He also holds a B.A. in Liberal Arts (Philosophy and Mathematics) from Saint John’s College, Annapolis, Maryland, and a Master’s of Music degree in Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory in Boston. He is a writer and researcher who has published in the fields of theology, history, business, and classical studies.  He is also an occasional speaker on Eastern Christian spirituality.

 Ann Bezzerides is Director of the Office of Vocation & Ministry at Hellenic College. Ann has an M.Div. from St. Vladimir's Orthodox Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from Boston College. Mary Long is Assistant Director of the Office of Vocation & Ministry at Hellenic College and Director of the CrossRoad summer institute. Mary earned an M.Div. at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology.

Antonia is a native of Bulgaria who came to the US in 1992. She studied theology at Harvard and Boston College and received her doctorate in the history of Christianity in 2004. She currently teaches at Boston College.
