Orthodox Christian Witness Program

Current Semester

We are pleased to announce that the Orthodox Witness to Christ Program will convene its 2021 fall semester on September 16. Registration is open to all new and previous participants to partake in witnessing Christ.

All programming will continue to be online with ten Round Table Sessions on Thursday evening from 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm and a Retreat on Saturday, October 23, 2021, from 10:00 am – 3:30 pm. Registration is limited to the first 30 people who register. Please access the fall 2021 registration form here.

The program covers four semesters, and participants can join at the beginning of ANY semester, either in the fall or spring. The Witness to Christ Program Certificate will be awarded at the completion of the four semesters, even if not taken in order.

In the fall 2021 semester Round Table Sessions, we will explore the Life of the Spirit–What is God Doing in Our Lives? And for the Saturday retreat, we will examine what Free Will and Christian Choice mean.

The purpose of the program is to offer an opportunity for a spiritual journey for anyone interested to learn, reflect, and be transformed through the Orthodox Christian Faith in preparation for various ministries. It aims to empower and equip Orthodox Christians to nourish and share the faith in the 21st century.

The Witness to Christ program is sponsored by the Diocese of Worcester and New England–Offered to the laity, Christian educators, parents, chaplains, counselors, therapists, physicians, and clergy. The program has eight units over four semesters.

Purpose

This program and journey is an opportunity for anyone interested to learn, to reflect, and to be transformed through the Orthodox Christian Faith in preparation for various ministries.

Goals

This spiritual pilgrimage is an interdisciplinary approach to create a cadre of leaders in the church. It is aimed to empower and equip Orthodox Christians to nourish and share the faith in 21st century by:

  • Offering frameworks and models of encountering God.

  • Offering frameworks and tools in order to enhance and facilitate inner spiritual growth.

  • Using Orthodox Christian theology and contemporary perspectives to encounter God.

  • Gaining insights and methods to witness and to share the faith.

  • Enhancing leadership skills in order to contribute effectively in parish ministry and to the world at large
