Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:
Would you like to make the Christmas Season holy? Attend to your soul. Fast and pray. Cultivate watchfulness, love, kindness, patience, peace and the love of silence in your hearts and Christmas will be holy.
Would you like to make the Christmas Season holier? Do not criticize, condemn or complain and we must always remember to mind our own business. Treat everyone you meet as you would the Lord. Then Christmas will be even more holy.
Would you like to make the Christmas Season the holiest of all? Take care of the poor, the hungry, the weak, the lonely, the sad, forgotten, the disenfranchised. Then Christmas will indeed be the holy!
We do not need creches in public parks, proclamations from political powers, permission from the powers that be or legislation from Congress to celebrate the birth of Our Lord. The Virgin Mary, Joseph, the shepherds, the magi, the angels and the stars had none of these.
All we need is to remember Christ. The only power that can make us forget lies in ourselves.
I am praying for all of you. Please remember me as well.
Yours in Christ,
Fr. Antony HughesPastor
