On the Sunday of the Holy Fathers

The end of this gospel reading is surprising. First, think about what He is saying. "That they may have *my* joy in them." Jesus is not talking about some ephemeral joy, but His own joy, God's own joy, infinite and luminous, magnificent, and incomparable. That is amazing that he would pour His own joy into us. Such a thing is even possible in this world. If not, then why would He say so? There is divine joy in all of us. We were born in joy. It is who we are and what we are.
