Chinese Translation Project of the Prologue from Ohrid
This is a non-profit project to translate the Prologue into Chinese to be freely distributable over the Internet with pastoral blessings of His Eminence, Metropolitan PHILIP of the Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese of North America through the Order of St Ignatius of Antioch. The source text used is the New English translation of the Serbian Diocese with blessing by His Grace, the Right Reverend JOVAN, Bishop of the Serbian Orthodox Diocese of Western America, to assist in the translation effort. The Chinese translation is being made freely available online for anyone who is interested in helping give feedback on improving the translation or for devotional use for the glory of God. On a technical note, the Chinese translation should not be published alongside the copyrighted English text without the permission of the Serbian Church.

The Chinese Orthodox Translation Project was awarded a $3,000 matching grant by The Order of St. Ignatius of Antioch to use towards the completion of the translation effort of the Prologue from Ochrid, a daily compilation of saints' lives and other devotional material by St Nikolai of Zica into Chinese. The generosity of The Order of St. Ignatius will help defray about half of the budgeted project expenses.

The Chinese Translation Project is looking for donations for the remaining project expenses. You can sponsor a specific day for the good health or in memory of loved one, for a names day, wedding anniversary, day of repose, or any other special occasion, which will be noted on the bottom of each entry of the prologue, and those reading the daily devotion for that day can pray for your loved ones. For a limited time, all supporters can request a free booklet on the Chinese Martyrs sent to them or to designated recipients. The booklet was recently published by the Holy Metropolis of Boston, including reprints of all the English articles on the Chinese Martyrs and the history of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in China that were in the Winter 1991 issue of the True Vine. This makes an ideal gift for the approaching Nativity Season.
Revised translations of January and most of the sponsored daily readings are completed, including the lives of saints, hymns, reflections, contemplations and homilies for each day.
Development to support unicode of the Menologion program which displays daily Scripture reading, Troparia and Kontakia hymns, and dedicated to St John of Shanghai by Michael Purcell will likewise begin. The current English version of the Menologion can be downloaded from http://www.saintjohnwonderworker.org/menologion.htm The Chinese translation of lives of saints from the Prologue will be able to be viewed using this new version of the Menologion.
If you would like to make a donation to this worthy project, the parish council at St Mary's has agreed to allow donations to come through the parish where donors can request tax-deductible receipts.
